Wild stuff. Norman Finklestein gave an interview a week or so ago, and said that he never uses any sort of AI powered writing assist, not even spellcheck, to the point that if automatic spellcheck corrected him, he would manually go back and rewrite the word himself. The interviewer laughed of course, assuming it was just a humorous and quirky Finklesteinism, but the professor continued and explained that the reason he does this was because he knows that the moment he lets the machine take over one part of his writing, that conscious ability will be lost to the machine over time, and he was willing to put up with tedium and difficulty if it meant that he was always capable of every task related to his own work.

This paper then gets published not long after and what he said doesn't seem quite as silly as I'd previously assumed.
