Soulslike - Discussion, News, Memes
This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".
Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.
Basic Lemmy-quette applies. Additionally, since flairs don't exist yet, please do make sure to include a marker to denote what game your post is about in square brackets for clarity's sake. An example could be:
[BB] This enemy is so difficult!
or
[DS1] Anyone struggling with the gargoyles?

I reserve parrying for some annoying humanoids, or high ng+ cycles ('cause the fights get loooooong.) Even though is significantly easier in bloodborne than other soulslike, I'm still so uncomfortable with it... I don't know if I could handle Sekiro/ Lies of P.
I've only been able to parry those lantern guys in bloodborne and never did ng+, I found Sekiro to be reasonably hard, by souls standards at least. So you should be fine? I found Sekiro to be more about the rhythm/balance between defense and aggression.
Edit: Sekiro's parry is pretty forgiving until you finish one playthrough and

play charmlessOh, I see. I thought perfect parries were a MUST 'cause I've heard so much about how hard the game is, so I haven't had the urge to play it. Once I'll clear some of my backlog I'll dive in, and we'll see if I come here crying or not. (ง ื▿ ื)ว
