If your managers only job is to micromanage you, your manager doesn't have an actual job and is just babysitting you for money, and you're probably in a shitty organization that doesn't know how to manage personnel.

I've had multiple jobs where my boss didn't have time to look over my shoulder because they were too busy doing their own work to bother the team as long as everyone is pulling their weight (and tend to come down like a ton of bricks when they have to do management shit instead of their job because you fucked up again, Matt).

It's so nice to work for orgs that resect me as an employee enough to let me do my job in peace.

I literally didn't meet my last direct supervisor for a year or more after i started. Great dude, kept everyone off our backs.
