You gotta remember that these people spouting this have very little to work off of, so they're gonna use anything they can.

Not exactly, I lumped him into this small group because of recent developments (which are supremely disappointing imo). King is a long time DNC donor, and was a massive and consistent critic of Trump. Now all of the sudden, he finally defends something Trump does and did so quite forcefully - and that thing is covering up of the Epstein files.

In my opinion, anyone who’s rich and powerful and is now suddenly coming out defending this coverup is basically telling on themselves for being implicated. In King’s case there’s a basis for this based on some of the stuff he wrote in It, iykyk.
