Luckily the DNC doesn't put forth candidates. The candidates run and are chosen by voters. Sure, they can interfere with the process, but they can't directly decide it. If the people make themselves heard, it doesn't matter what the party wants.

Do I think this will actually happen? It's not likely, but it is possible for the people to overrule the party.
