Think tactically.

If these people are willing to come over and join the normals, welcome them.

Fuck your vengeance. Shove it up your ass. I get it, it's not wrong, but under no circumstances does a participating member of a team doing critically important work turn down legitimate help (if that's actually what it is) over it.

I'm sure it's a good idea some times and not others. No turning down genuine assistance, and no failing to recognize genuine assistance because you're angry.

as long as they learn to accept the real fight is between the rich and the rest. not between culture wars/gender/race...

otherwise they'll just push any movement into their racist culture war bs.

I don't know the details of this person's story beyond the fact that their child is suffering and experiencing the consequences of how the parent voted. They feel remorse because they/their family are suffering. There isn't anything in that post indicating that they understand how wrong it was for them to vote in a way that would demonize and hurt people they don't agree with, (gay people, brown people, people that don't belong to their religion, blue states that need FEMA aid,) or acknowledgement about how their vote enabled the suffering of others.

I have seen some truly genuine posts from others that did some serious soul searching and display a clear understanding and self awareness about why their vote for Trump was so harmful, and indicated a willingness to do better, be better informed, and to turn away from hate. Those are the people that we should welcome with open arms.

People that feel no remorse for this, and give off the vibe of, "Trump is hurting the wrong people," or, "My case is special, I'm the exception to the rule," would turn around and vote the same way the next election. Despite suffering the consequences of their choices, they learned nothing. So many of these people have refused to learn, even when presented with evidence and facts.

Enjoying the suffering of others brought about by their own actions isn't vengeance, it's schadenfreude. Me driving to Lisa's house and slashing her tires because she voted for fascism would be an act of vengeance.

I will absolutely be hurt by the outcome of the 2024 election. Do you think Lisa will feel any sympathy for me when I get kidnapped off the street for being gay once Trump moves the goalposts for who the undesirables are? I don't believe for a second that she would. So yeah, I'm going to sit here and enjoy Lisa getting what she voted for. She can have my sympathy when I see a post from her expressing actual remorse. She can be welcomed to the fold when she shows remorse. Until then, she will not have the comfort of my empathy.
