Vent, passing mentions of self harm depiction
Â
Unwillingly lying down a lot due to fatigue and a fair bit of pain, look for things you can do while you’re flat on your back…
Find sub at other place called artisticallyill. That’s promising! Surely there could be great tips for physical disabled/chronically ill artists!
Go there hoping I could find ideas around accommodations but first impression I get is that it’s full of edgy vent art around mental illness and self harm. It’s very Tumblr sadgirl and I’d have to dig to find anything addressing my situation.
Cool. Not really what I was looking for. I’m not sure if I’ve misunderstood the sub’s purpose but it feels like a lot of that really could have gone to a more mental health specific sub rather than pushing stuff for more physically disabled people aside.
And some of the art of graphic injuries could have used some kind of spoiler or warning.
Going and searching a particular term on Tumblr (bedridden/bed ridden) mainly brings up fetish content with maybe one suggestion to keep a toothbrush by your bed. Very helpful, thanks. /s
It feels like other peoples stuff is so consistently centred over dealing with physical disability and it makes it hard to find resources I need.
I wish I had a Frida Kahlo kind of setup or could get some kind of fkn improvement.
Edit: Sorry to be bitchy. It’s just some spaces look like they could be helpful to me, and then they’re… not. They’re serving a different audience. Always.
Make your own space. I am sure there will be others who have the same needs and interest. 😊
Oh man that involves moderating the space so if I do I’m gonna have to look at a lot more of that stuff 🫩
And right now I barely have energy to do for myself
Guess I keep looking or figure it out myself
Oh my god yeah I 100% agree about artisticallyill! I went there looking for help too, and it was very... Those people need to get off the internet I think.
I'm sorry there are so few spaces that are, like useful and wholesome. The internet just seems to corrupt a lot of spaces meant to help us.
Aye. I’m just trying to live with this shit, not dramatise or glamorise it!
And while disability can be comorbid with or cause mental ill health I’m really looking for some practical ways of managing
