Gems of Internet Art
Gems of Internet Art
High quality, not necessarily high effort.
Share your favorite artsy content from the internet. Anything good enough to download to your device is a good rule of thumb.
Weird, surreal and abstract art, as well as works related to internet culture are preferred, but not a must.
I recommend checking out the stuff that has already been posted to get a feel for this community first.
Enjoy.
⚠️ Disclaimers
Strobing / flashing lights warning: Not recommended for people with photosensitive epilepsy.
For Artists: If you don't want your work to be posted here, please send me a message. I will, of course, remove all of your art and make note to not post it in the future, either. Best case scenario would be promotion of your work and entertainment for everyone else. I do not have any financial incentive in this.
Rules
TLDR: Give credit, if possible. Tag NSFW - no porn, no gore. Strive to be the opposite of Twitter.
✏️ 1) If you know the artist, credit them.
🔞 2) Tag NSFW. No extreme, or even real gore & no porn. Non-sexual nudity is fine.
🫂 3) Be respectful of others. It sounds so obvious, but remember you are conversing with another human being and imagine you were talking to them in person.
🗳️ 4) No politics, no hostile debates (light-hearted jokes and respectful discussions are fine).
ℹ️ If you are wondering: I don't give a shit about swearing, except racial slurs and mean spirited insults to others.
Thanks.

AI slop?
Edit: yeah yeah, hold the down votes, it was a question and in today's day, a legitimate one
If you have to ask, is it slop?
Some of these kids are gonna watch the moon landing and go 'Hey that's where those guys rode a horse! AI?!'
A subset of AI haters are only performing ingroup loyalty. They don't know what it looks like. They don't know why they hate it. It's just Bad, and if they found out their favorite thing used a tiny bit of it, they'd rant about how they never liked it.
Uh huh, I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fucking tidal wave of vapid videos and pictures being created by kids because writing a prompt is so creative and requires so much work and practice and training. We have no idea at all why we hate AI slop, and I'm sure it has nothing to do with not knowing anymore what's real or not (yeah yeah, this one obviously is fake, so is most AI slop, still)
I know what AI does, I know as well that it's mostly wasted on making slop like this instead of, you know, trying to find cures for diseases.
That still ignores the fact about the ludicrous amounts of energy wasted on systems that can very confidently give you the wrong answer, or in this case, spend insane amounts of energy on making a dumb video. Sure, this one was made before AI, yay, all fine. This is why I asked.
Need more? How about AI being at the cusp of being undetectable so now I cannot trust a single video I see. Couple that with millions of morons who think it's funny to post AI videos of a building being in fire, scaring the crap out of people, or AI videos of opposing politicians who say a bunch of crap...
Internet was the revolution that would usher humanity into a better time and it failed miserably, it objectively made so many things so much worse. AI is the revolution that very much might end humanity in various different ways and so far we managed to make that worse than the initial predictions as well.
Meanwhile, people like you take any form of valid criticism and just handwaved it away, having no idea about how or why the problem is what it is.
So kindly; fuck off.
I completely understand the frustrations with AI, but please do not start a debate here. Take it to DMs if you must.
Thank you.

I don't want to take sides in this and also kindly ask you not to add fuel to the fire. No debates in this community. If you must, take it to DMs.
Thank you.
This is so old, that it can't be AI. (~~Mid 2000s~~)

We used to spend years learning 3D modeling, shaders and then spend a month rendering these jokes in the early 2000s.

That is insanely cool. I think Captain Disillusion made a video about this IIRC. Am I understanding correctly, that you also made this one? If so, please let me know who to credit it to and I will edit this post. 🙂👍
Oh no, I had nothing to do with it, but I was messing with Cinema 4D and other 3D apps in college around the same time this came out.
I made some videos in college but nothing I can share here and also it was the days of standard def mini DV and and terrible codecs. So it’s all about as high quality of OPs gif.
Awesome classic, yeah, though it always bugged me that in reality that car would have been splattered to a sandwich by the weight of that plane
