An online space for the vegans of Lemmy.
Rules and miscellaneous:
- We take for granted that if you engage in this community, you understand that veganism is about the animals. You either are vegan for the animals, or you are not (this is not to say that discussions about climate/environment/health are not allowed, of course)
- No omni/carnist apologists. This is not a place where to ask to be hand-holded into veganims. Omnis coddling/backpatting is not tolerated, nor are /r/DebateAVegan-like threads
- Use content warnings and NSFW tags for triggering content

MODERATORS
I think context is very important when talking about our personal choices for being vegan/vegetarian/whateverflavorofnonmeateater. Personally I like to say that the reason I continue to make the choice is because I am fortunate enough to live in a country and have enough resources to be able to not consume animal flesh or byproducts, but I recognize that that may not be a reality for everyone in the world, or even everyone in my country. So to your point, I have sympathy and can excise that one X dude if his survival/life requires it, but zero sympathy for those who choose to consume animals or byproducts simply because it's more convenient or "it tastes good."
