How can I join community coding projects? (programming.dev)

I'm trying to join some... not entirely sure what they're called. Like those projects where a group of people all work on a single community project. I hear discord is a good place for stuff like that. And beginner hackathons too. Any advice would be super helpful. Edit: Open Source Projects is what I meant 😅

I heard of a place called Coding Simpletons they have a group on arcane chat. They seem to have a foss philosophy you might want to check that out. Most open source groups stay on open source platforms Discord is a cool interface for chat but riddled with spyware & proprietary.
