I don't get how the people complaining that law doesn't work get a free pass because they've "given up" but you're dunking on this guy for doing what you suggest. Getting the word out that law is the only thing working right now is exactly what he's doing.
The Internet has made everyone think their opinion is worth sharing no matter how ignorant or useless it is [ETA: I don't mean you!]. The people he's knocking are the exact people who should be taking your advice, not him.
It's still several steps above of spreading misinformation and useless negativity.
How is this worse than throwing you hands up and shouting "Don't try because it only works sometimes"? Or even worse, "don't try because it never works"?
Pretty sure I see on a daily basis here on Lemmy some highly upvoted comment saying that trying to use the democratic or legal processes to oppose MAGA is a waste of time and then usually clumsily insinuating we should all be shooting at Ice instead. Which is fundamentally terrible advice by really any measure. That's what I take the authors point to be.
And how is asking people to stop shitting on your attempts to use the legal system somehow being spun as shitting on those critics?
