This is to be expected if you want to play a modern Anno game. There are tons of Roman/Greek city-builders from indie devs with all sorts of gameplay focus and enhancements (relative to classical Impressions Games city-builders).
If they release a DRM free version on gog.com then I might consider it. However, it's a nope from me with these requirements.
I'd rather keep playing Tropico and learn from the dictator playbook.
