Yeah, I’m probably addicted to cannabis. That doesn’t particularly bother me, as it doesn’t negatively impact my life. I keep it to nights and weekends, and I don’t spend more on it than I can afford. I honestly have a much harder time quitting coffee than I do cannabis. If I go on vacation, I never have a problem leaving my weed at home, but I’ll be damned if I don’t have my caffeine. And that doesn’t seem to be a particularly harmful addiction either.

it doesn’t negatively impact my life

Pretty sure that means that it by definition isn't an addiction but rather a benign dependence 🤷

Good luck explaining that to most people. I've had a cannabis dependence for years now, and I get called an addict by certain members of my family, even though I've held a job longer than most of them were in school. I partake everyday, but the boss doesn't care/suspect anything and my output meets/exceeds expectations, so they're happy with me.

I know. Doesn't make it any less true, though, as you appear to be an excellent example of 🤷

Do you think "able to hold a job" is what defined addict Or not?

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

No, more an indicator that it isn't negatively impacting my life. I've known plenty of addicts that can't say the same.

Lucky. I can't sleep without weed, so if I'm going on vacation, it has to be to a place with legalization.

I interpret for courts and the prosecutor's office in Japan. I wish the people I've had to work with were smart like you. Don't risk it by bringing weed here.

Yeah, that does suck. I do struggle a bit to fall asleep the first few nights without it, since I’m used to having a bowl before bed, but the thing that really gets me is how crazy vivid my dreams are when I’m taking a break. I’m prone to night terrors too, so it’s a bit of a roll of the dice on what those dreams are gonna be like
