One aspect of this that has been insane is people framing his racism and bigotry as just different opinions. His whole existence was funding and bring harm to marginalized people anyway possible. Not all violence is physical.
the Overton window has shifted so far right that racism went from unacceptable to fringe but acceptable.
look at all the propaganda memes depicting anti-racists as only having white friends, and racists as having PoC friends they jokingly razz. they're trying to rehabilitate overt racism.
This is the logical result of years (decades) of the media sane washing these horrific opinions and worldviews.
