If the FBI releases any statement now, you have to question what their angle is for saying that.

Sure.

What we have so far is:

  • Trump claiming it's a leftist doing this - obviously politically motivated
  • evidence pointing to him being conservative, and potentially radicalized by the far right

We'll see how much grip Trump has over the FBI, but I really don't see them doubling down on what Trump says here. There's so little to gain and so much to lose.
