Well I had a fairly sedentary day today at home with the kids. Cleared some things out of the fridge and freezer. I tried a beginner flow yoga style routine but it didn't really work for me because I've lost a lot of flexibility over the years without realising. Even sitting cross legged on the floor is hard because I'm so stiff in the knees π« so I did the 1000 step challenge again because my step count is way down and the routine is fun and not hard in the wrong way lol.
Thereβs chair yoga if that would be easier
This is one Iβve tried before and was quite gentle on the body https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1DYH5ud3zHo
Ooh thanks Melba I hadn't thought of chair yoga! Might give that one a go later on today ππΌ
Yeah! Itβs good because it keeps the pressure off your knees.
Also consider tai chi or qi gong warmups with a high stance
Ok I've just done this routine and I'm hooked! It feels so beautiful to let the body flow like that!
Ok so I just decided, "bugger it, I'll do the chair yoga one now while the kids are still in bed," and I found it really good and not too stressful. Very hard to put ankle on knee and stretch the leg because stiffness, but I'll get there. Thanks for the recommendation!
No worries. Donβt force anything!
There's this pose that you can do using a yoga belt. It's like this
spoiler
But instead you start out sitting up with your legs slightly apart and bent but feet together. It opens the hips up. As you get used to it, you bring your feet closer to your body. The good thing is you can go at your own pace. 2 minutes a day or 10 minutes a day it doesn't matter. You can also put blocks or cushions on the outside so your knees have something to rest on. It's a good gentle stretch before workouts.
Heeey that's a good one! Just gave it a try and I can feel where it would get easier with practice. Tyvm!
No worries. We used to do this stretch at the start of every yoga lesson and I could eventually do the above pose. Now days I need to choc my knees with blocks. Lol
Keep up the good work π
you're doing great, it takes time π½
Aww thankee!
