Over thirty people across the country have been fired, put on leave, investigated or faced calls to resign because of social media posts criticizing Charlie Kirk or expressing schadenfreude about the conservative influencer's assassination earlier this week, according to an analysis by NPR.

The center is weak. The left has never had power in this country to be weak or strong with.

Yeah it's kind of a shame. The centre is obviously mostly right about most things, but nobody really gets fired up about moderate positions. "Legalise euthanasia! But only in certain conditions and with strong safeguards!", "Ban ICE cars! But we probably are still going to need oil for plastic and aviation fuel." Yeah probably not going to get many people at my protests.

You got a distorted view of what the center actually is I think. The center is squeeze as much money out of oil as possible and destroy the planet in the process who cares. Profits all that matters. That's the center. Your alignment is way off.

Err no, that's the right. You might be suffering from being American.

No, that's liberalism. That's the center. Why do you think the world is the way it is right now if your idealistic version was the reality of the center? I might wish capitalism was the extreme right but it's not it's the center as it is right now. And has been for a long time

Erm because the centre never prevails? I agree capitalism is a centrist policy. I don't know why you think the things I said were incompatible with capitalism.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

If you don't think capitalism is about the rapacious exploitation of resources and labor to the detriment of all else I don't know what to tell you buddy. The center always seems to prevail, particularly the center right.

Most reasonable countries have capitalism and regulations to prevent unbounded exploitation of workers and the environment. Moderation, imagine that. Something a centrist might believe in...

No Centrist has ever ever done that willingly. You should know that, come on. I mean seriously man what conversation are we having? Cuz it seems like you're just telling me that the entirety of the labor rights movement has never existed because the Centrist liberals do it all willingly on their own.

So much blood has been spilled to earn you those rights. So much blood is spilled every day to try to preserve those rights. Don't spit on the people who sacrificed for you.
