It's very possible to have politics that differ from your family. It's also possible for politics to change over the course of years. I think he used to be MAGA, but shifted over to the left within the last few years.
Groypers and the alt-right generally co-opt existing symbols to define themselves, making it quite difficult to definitively determine who's part of the group. They love plausible deniability.
Nothing enscribed on the bullets is definitive proof. A lot of the links to groypers are tenuous at best.
I don't think we'll be sure of the motive until he tells us, but at this point, I think he was most likely on the left.
You're not wrong and he may not be a Groyper exactly, but I still believe he's adjacent. I don't believe that having a Trans partner excludes him either. We'll have to wait and see. His politics may not be as black and white as any of us thought. Being raised in an ultra Christian, probably ultra conservative household and community, fucks people up. Repression, shame, and guilt are powerful tools religion wields as a cudgel.
I grew up in a similar situation, albeit not as strict a Christian or as conservative a community, but damn close. I've seen first hand how folks like these can fuck a kid up beyond repair. The jury is still out, but I still believe he's a right-winger.
