This is a Korean show, but Bulgasal. K-dramas are already notorious for being long, and this was no exception. It was 16 episodes that were each 1.5 hours long. Dramas that revolve around a love story (ill-fated lovers on this one) have no business being that long. And the worst part is the last episode violated the entire show's lore rules just so it would be a happy ending.
