Well you kinda can do that on Amazon and Apple, although its more "renting" than buying - I believe. And they don't have everything.

You can "purchase" titles on Walmart's VUDU and Google TV (quotes to account for the possibility of them ceasing to exist, which would then cause you to lose your right to stream-for-free).

I've come to refer to these "purchases" as "indefinite rentals".
