You're absolutely correct. Democrats don't even have a figurehead to rally around, let alone ideas. Gavin Newsome is the best they've got and he's got almost as much baggage as Hillary did. When your party's platform is "look how bad the other guy is" it doesn't matter how right you are or aren't, you let the other guy control the conversation. So suddenly American politicians have to pretend MAGA policies aren't batshit crazy because nobody is suggesting sane policy decisions

Yeah, I don't think Gavin Newsome is that guy. I think the best candidate the Democrats have currently is Andy Beshear, but he's not a radical or progressive. He doesn't represent anything new, necessarily. Quite the opposite, in fact, he's a "return to normalcy" candidate, in many ways, but that does hold appeal to some. Regardless, if he, or any other candidate, is going to unify the Democratic party, they are going to have to very clearly lay out a coherent vision for where they want the US to go from here. I can't say which vision would unify the party, but I know that without a cohesive vision, the Democrats will remain stuck in place.
