The Trump administration has aggressively rolled back efforts across the federal government to combat human trafficking, a Guardian investigation has found.

The sweeping retreat threatens to negate decades of progress in the drive to prevent sexual slavery, forced labor and child sexual exploitation, according to legal experts, former government officials and anti-trafficking advocates. They say the administration’s moves are impeding efforts to prosecute perpetrators and protect survivors in the United States and around the world.

“It’s been a widespread and multi-pronged attack on survivors that leaves all of us less safe and leaves survivors with few options,” said Jean Bruggeman, executive director of Freedom Network USA, a national coalition of service providers, researchers and trafficking survivors.

Here we have it. This is what I've believed all along. This obsession with immigration and borders. ICE apprehending good people, tax payers with families. Legal immigrants. Enforcing border security, all it does it make it easier to traffic human beings. All this effort just makes it more dangerous to cross the border. Because the actual human traffickers, the gangs and abusers that facilitate illegal border crossings... They use fear of consequences to control people. People resort to the worse possible option, because it's the only option they have. The only difference now, is that with ICE, we've formally turned human trafficking into a "legitimate" business. The rich now have fast food access to our children. A limitless supply of women and children separated from their parents. Free to be bought and sold as the rich see fit.

It's absolutely disgusting. USA literally has the biggest human trafficking industry in the world. Brought about by a man who is a felon, a rapist and a variable predator of children. I won't shed any tears for the people who support any of this. I hope the hatred they have caused, the outcry of the everyday man, can silence these individuals forever. These people deserve to rot in prison.

I am perpetually haunted by a news story I saw circa 2018 showing footage of children being led around New York at about 1AM by a prim kindergarten teacher-type woman. News sources at the time said they came from the border. So what in the name of God were they doing in New York across the continent? I have had a rising sense of panic about this for ever and I fear you are dead on. Want a never ending goodie bag of slaves with no paper trail? Militarize a border.
