  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

I just literally told you that some of the now reddest states used to be blue and literally instigated insurrections to stick it to the man. Just treat them decently and they will abandon Trump. The fight isn’t over and the democratic party right now is changing. You don’t see it cause nobody reports about it but Bernie is literally talking with ‘the deplorables’ and winning them back on reason and sympathy. That is amazing. And MAGA has nothing to fight that but ignorance and outrage farming.

How far back are you looking? Just at Florida, which was turned red by a sea of geriatrics that doubled the state's population over the past 30 years? Or further than that where the south was governed by Dixiecrats who just turned Republican when the Democratic party stopped being cool with Jim Crow?

I am specifically talking about the coal counties.

[–] JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

How many people arguing with you do you think know about Blair Mountain?

[–] krebssteven@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Not many if any.

But that was precisely my initial point.

Just treat them decently and they will abandon Trump…

Oh yea I’m sure they will, just like after Bush crashed the economy… just like after Trump’s first term… just like when my magic fairy?

[–] krebssteven@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

This is not about a miracle cure for their issues. This is about awareness for who understands their issues. Even the most basic coal worker understands that a politician cannot just swing a wand and fix their issues. But they also understand that not giving tax breaks to billionaires but to them would go a long way.

[–] CaliforniaSober@lemmy.ca 0 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Totally true, they have shown a historical trend AWAY from awareness… so why should I trust them to be aware now? Even the most basic coal worker has not understood these issues for DECADES FOR FUCKS SAKE. All while voting in republicans to take it worse.

If they want to be different they needed to vote differently BEFORE now. Until then why not assume they will vote the same?

[–] krebssteven@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Have you even read what I posted? Have you looked into their history and voting behaviour?

You commit the exact error of dismissal that made them vote red. Bravo.

[–] CaliforniaSober@lemmy.ca -2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Yea I personally made them vote red. Thats the issue here… have you read what I said? There are decades of behavior contradicting you…

On top of that are you saying a simple dismissal is what makes folks act that way…? Clearly I guess you think it’s not their fault… it’s my dismissal… the snowflakes… no accountability there…

Simply delete my account and we can have a utopia… Bravo with a fucking mindset thinner than paper…

[–] CaliforniaSober@lemmy.ca -2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Totally, believing you is.

I’m glad you understand that. There’s nothing I’m saying otherwise but you’ve landed yourself into a corner where you have to be a defeatist to even entertain the bullshit you’ve flooded this place with in the mean time.

[–] krebssteven@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I suppose you have figured it all out on your own.

[–] CaliforniaSober@lemmy.ca -2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

Truth be told a lot of people (call it a society?) can figure stuff out that helps a society (call it everyone ?) and do good! Or we can cast doubt and wreck hell and say that anyone calling that a bad thing must “have it all figured out on their own…”

You’re right it’s on my own and totally has nothing to do with the crazy shit you have just been messaging…

[–] krebssteven@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Are you serious? I just pointed out that the fascists haven’t won yet and you call that ‘crazy’?

[–] AlexanderTheDead@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago

That's ironic.
