We’re a global family of volunteers—engineers, designers, community builders and dreamers—all united by one vision: A world in which the top choice for navigation software respects users' freedom and privacy, and is developed through open collaboration.

From sunrise in Asia to sunset in South America, the contributors collaborate across time zones, languages, and cultures. No salaries, no borders—just pure passion for open data and community‑driven cartography.

Why we love CoMaps:

  • Sleek, privacy‑focused navigation experience that works worldwide, without tracking or ads.
  • We learn from each other, sharing skills and stories along the way.
  • Our work lives online, so anyone can join the adventure at any time.

I'm not a dev, but donated $90. Please donate, and keep this project alive and thriving.

Also if I may, I'm hoping we'll eventually get audio support for directions.

What do you mean by audio support for directions? There’s turn by turn audio output already iirc

Now that you say it, I do see some "Voice instructions" support in the settings. I'll need to figure out how to connect an engine to it to get it working. Thanks! :)

If you use Android, it should normally just work with the TTS engine set in android settings.

Unless you don't have one or your engine does not offer either the map language or english.

I am currently working on enabling other TTS languages and notifying the user more noticeably about TTS problems.

I'm on GrapeheneOS, so maybe because I chose not to have Google Assistant setup up on my phone.

Yeah you may need to install another TTS engine, don't know the Graphene TTS situation exactly.

I like SherpaTTS for example.

I’d tell you how I did it if I remembered, but I have zero memory of setting it up lmao sorry. Good luck!
