Honestly my main issue with Bleach is the same as any other long running series. Everything is super stretched out. It feels like the show tries to waste as much of your time as possible.
That being said I still find the whole series way better than Naruto or even newer series like Boku no Hero Academia.
Romance in shounen anime is often bad. (The only battle anime that has perfect romance is inmho Kaguya-sama)
As a romance expert I can tell that romance in Bleach is clearly only done for the purpose of a happy family ending.
Personally I find it boring although I don't mind it. Just like in real life, romance is illogical and it's everywhere, you can't avoid it.
If I recall correctly, Bleach was even more stretched out than the average. The anime was being produced so fast that the (unfinished, at the time) manga couldn't keep pace, and they ended up shoehorning in a lot of anime-original material, which, however, couldn't be allowed to advance the main plot or contribute any real character development, lest it contradict the later manga.
Back in the day every long running series had a filler (Gintoki explains it the best) episodes. These episodes can be a funny break from the main plot at best and unwatchable garbage at worst. In Bleach they were just boring imo excluding a few comedy ones where they focused more on background characters. But even if you skip filler, every arc, every fight feels so stretched out.
Filler episodes, yes. Bleach had filler seasons running to 20+ consecutive episodes, which, while not quite unheard-of, has never been common, either.
