The Name of the Rose 1986

Sean Connery delivers a great performance as an intellectual friar investigating a series of unexplainable deaths at a remote abbey. With the assistance of his young apprentice, Christian Slatter, the two navigate the secret and decisive world of the Church in 14th century Europe.

I haven't seen that since in played in cinemas, but I remember it being a rather good and thoughtful for a mass-market film. Since it is no longer fresh in my mind, might yuo compare it to Conclave or some other film?
