Isn't there a concern that having it that far off is going to cause it to lose momentum? Like I get giving yourself enough time to organize and prepare. But three years is a long time.
I think the purpose was to allow time for other unions to renew their contracts to end on that date, thus allowing everyone to 'legally' commit to a general strike by having everyone's contract end at the same time, and not accept any new contracts until our demands are met.
I don't think it would lose momentum being that far out, but unfortunately it was planned before Trump won the election, and thus assumed there was more time to prepare than we likely have. I think we will need to initiate a wildcat general strike sooner than 2028, personally.
