Claire's was a chain of American jewelry stores focusing on the extremely-inexpensive end of the market. A common feature of malls back in the day, if you wanted a super cheap pair of clip-on earrings or something, that looked silver but probably wasn't, Claire's is where you went.

Their actual financial difficulties likely stem from the decline of malls, as foot traffic past their window was probably the main source of customers.
