Welcome to The Shitpost Office

Shitposts processed from 9 to 5, with occasional overtime on weekends.

Rule 1: Be Civil, Not SinisterTreat others like fellow employees, not enemies in the breakroom.

  • No harassment, dogpiling, or brigading
  • No bigotry (transphobia, racism, sexism, etc.)
  • Respect people’s time and space. We’re here to laugh, not to loathe

Rule 2: No Prohibited PostageSome packages are simply undeliverable. That means:

  • No spam or scams
  • No porn or sexually explicit content
  • No illegal content
  • NSFW content must be properly tagged

If you see anything that violates these rules, please report it so we can return it to sender. Otherwise? Have fun, be silly, and enjoy the chaos. The office runs best when everyone’s laughing.... or retching over the stench, at least.

Cool it on calling them an ass, please. Just because they may have been snarky doesn't mean that you should escalate it.

Why do they get to be rude but I do not?

[–] Stamets@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

As I said, they were being snarky. You were actively insulting them. You escalated it.

I hardly think my response was anywhere near escalation. I responded in good faith and was immediately insulted for it.

Considering I felt insulted, why are you the arbiter of what is and isn't an insult? The M next to your name?

Yes, the M next to my name does make me the arbiter of what is and is it an insult when it comes to dealing with the rules. You were also not insulted. You were questioned. There is a significant difference.

The other user had responded to you in such a way that could be construed as rude. You actively insulted them and called them something specific. That is what we call an escalation.

I'm not continuing this. You've been informed of the situation and up to you on how you want to deal with it.
