I am not sure about this.
Which is the starting point. I mean, I agree that part of the debate is about how many foreigners a Germany can absorb annualy. Debating about qualifications did not exclude debating about how many foreigners you want/can accept. And I agree that if you only debate about only one side you go nowhere and populism explode.
True, and how many Syrians are on welfare ? Because that is the point. It is not important how many Syrian doctors you have if you have 100x Syrians leaving on welfare and that don't want to contribute but only ask.
And like in Italy (and I suppose everywhere ) people will see the 100x Syrians on welfare and not the 6500 doctors working. And that is what is exploited by what you call Nazis (like if people become Nazi overnight).
People that vote for a Party like afd are nazi friends. And of you are friends with a nazi you are a nazi.. Many are not allowed to work because it is not sure where they are from, because they can not proof they have what is needed for the job etc.. And instead of trying to let them take Tests sothey can proof they can work they are not allowed. Sure there are some that dont want to work or cant but that wont be the majority.. Its the same as people believe that the "bürgergeld Empfänger" are a bigger problem than the ultra rich few that dont pay taxes %wise to their wealth
Maybe, maybe not. What you are missing is that AfD is not a cause but a consequence.
I have no doubt that in Germany there still is a certain number of nazis, like we have in Italy. But guess what ? Up until some years ago they where nowhere near to be considered nothing more than a small group with radical ideas (than, to be honest, you have also on the left a small group with radical ideas, so...).
Since their (AfD) ideas are the same, the fact that now they get way more votes only means that way more people started voting for them (like it happened with Fratelli D'Italia in Italy) and since I don't belive that people become nazi overnight the only explanation is that evidentely people are getting tired of the other political parties, for whatever reason. If I should look at what happen in Italy, the reason is because now the Left wings does not care about common people problems.
The assumption that people is nazi but somehow did not vote for a nazi party is stupid, Afd existed way before getting so many votes, so what changed to make people vote for a nazi party after years that the same people voted for non nazi parties ? Find the answer to this question and you will find the cause for AfD growth.
And if you are friends with a gay you are gay, works better that way ?
I agree, that is a problem, but it is a problem to know where they are from or what skill they have if they came here without any document (not even the ID) and try to flee the moment they touch the land (look what happen when immigrants disembark in the Southern Italy).
Trying to have them to take tests to verify how skilled they are has as prerequisite that they want to take the test. The 6500 Syrian doctors wanted to part of the society. And parties like AfD will be still what they were for years (little groups with radical ideas and no real power or voice) if the only immigrant are the doctors and highly skilled worker that contribute to the society because people would not see them as a problem.
The common people do not see as a problem the Syrian doctor (or nurse or highly skilled worker), but the Syrian that live by petty crimes or pretend to live on welfare.
That the ultra rich should need to pay their fair share of taxes is obvious. It can be simply done closing all the loophole they use (but strangely no one want to do it).
But the assumption that if the few ultra rich pay their fair share of taxes than evertything will be solved is beyond stupid.
The cause for more fascist is that overall for more people it is worse.. Why is it worse? Cost of living is up, no one can buy a house, press is telling that its the fault of Immigrants or the people that cant work.. meanwhile it is because of the few rich that hoard everything. You saying that being friends with someone being gay makes you gay is absurd. I dont mind anyone being gay i mind being friends with someone that Wants to kill foreigners.. One is smth you cant choose (the being gay) one is choosing to be scum.. Afd Wants to deport anyone that even has parents that are not White.. It is not about people that contribute but about skin color..
Or, maybe, the parties in power do not understand anymore what people need/want.
Just an example, last week in Italy we had a strike, organized by the Left wing parties and the biggest labor unions, against the war in Palestine. Now, for how bad the situation in Palestine can be, do you really think that a family in Italy that are living on the edge of poverty because of the low salary and few jobs (which lower the salary because there is always someone who are willing to work for less if the alternative is no job and eventually you can pay under the table an illegal immigrant) with the problem of putting 3 meals a day on the table for his children really care about it ?
It is true that more people vote for Right and fascist and that happen because it is worse for more people and the point is that all the other parties do not understand it and they continue to do the same things that make it worse for more people.
It is not a coincidence that AfD begin to grow after the illegal immigrant became too much. It is not a coincidence that Fratelli D'Italia won the elections after the PD+M5S focused only on the illegal immigrant and other questions concerning a very little number of people.
I simply do not believe that refugees or illegal migration are among Germany's most pressing problems. Nevertheless, this issue dominates the public debate – and in a way that is in fact very harmful. This was already the case in the last federal election and, unfortunately, continues to be the case.
All this plays into the hands of the right wing, as they construct their usual threat scenarios, which are not only completely exaggerated, but also absolutely counterproductive, because they deliberately ignore essential aspects such as demographic change and the (in parts associated) shortage of skilled workers. Instead, they rail against foreigners with populist slogans such as "German culture is threatened by immigration," "foreigners are taking jobs away from Germans," and all that nonsense.
These people's billionaire friends, especially the social media moguls, are pushing these fundamentally false illusions out of self-interest.
As a result, the entire political debate revolves around this one issue, even though Germany has many way more pressing problems: for example, foreign policy, particularly with regard to the regime in the US, the weakening economy, social justice, environmental protection, education, and so on.
The far-right AfD, which, together with large sections of the conservative camp, is responsible for making the issue of migration so prominent, is not interested in focusing on these much more important issues at all. The reason is simple: The AfD is a neoliberal party that pursues the interests of the upper class (even worse than CDU/CSU). But they hide this fact behind their racist rhetoric. It is exactly the same tactic that MAGA pursues: pretending to stand up for the little guy, but in fact exclusively representing the interests of billionaires, which are of course by no means in the interests of the citizens. To put it polemically: in order to divert attention from rampant lobbying, foreigners are being made the scapegoats.
If we don't manage to finally reestablish a meaningful political discourse that addresses the country's real problems instead of fueling blind hatred, we will end up just like the Americans – with an autocratic regime that is utterly incompetent and corrupt beyond belief, yet at the same time ruthless enough to terrorize its own citizens. We already had such a regime in Germany: namely, the Nazis in the Third Reich.
So in short, I consider the completely overrepresented debate on migration to be essentially a diversionary tactic. The aim is to obscure the real reasons for Germany's economic decline and the falling standard of living – foreigners in Germany have nothing to do with either of these issues, but that is what the right wing wants citizens to believe. As I said, you only have to look at the US to see where this leads – a look at Germany's history would also confirm this, but unfortunately many of my compatriots seem to want to deliberately ignore the horrors of Nazi rule so that they can have a scapegoat for all their problems: foreigners.
Probably not, but still is a problem.
True and they can exactly because the left wing is not willing to tackle the problem. Let's be real, AfD would never have been at this level if the other parties would have done their job.
True. The point is that they are able to do it because the issue exist and nobody else care to speak about it, let alone to tackle it.
It is too easy to point at the hundreds or thousands of illegal immigrants that are around the street and say "see, they are the problem with their petty crimes". People will agree because they know it is true to some extend.
Yep, and as far as I remember Hitler was elected before going crazy. Now, obviously the scenarios are really different but the one common thing they have is that there is someone willing to talk to people about the problem they have (or think to have) and promise to solve them. And thinking that to resolve the problem all you need to do is to neutralize AfD will only end with AfD 2.0 with an even worse program but since it will have a more presentable way, it will be accepted.
I don't think you can have a parallel, in the US Trump won because the Democrats decided that in the end standing by a convicted felon (Floyd was not an innocent black guy killed by a racist police officer) and allowing petty crimes (and not only them, they decriminalized many things), on top of choosing as candidate Kamala Harris because she is a black woman, who in the primary elections of her own party got less than 1000 votes, was a good strategy. And with all the woke ideology and BLM charade it was simple for him to win.
If AfD (or any other party) would try something like that would be destroyed, nobody really like it.
