As a light sleeper I have a recommendation for you SO’s out there: don’t turn it off right away. Instead, lower the volume every so often. Eventually you’ll have turned the volume off. At that point it’s safe to turn the tv off. This provides a gentler shift in the ambient noise level
I do this almost every night. Makes me feel like a ninja when I finally turn off the TV and my wife doesn't wake up.
