World News
A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Maybe don't vacation in or move to an occupied colonial outpost apartheid state.
You mean the guys who bombed women and children civilians who were evacuating to egypt via the route they told civilians to evacuate along?
I dont think they deserve anything but sanctions and a guilty verdict for war crimes.
Did they? I saw a video of an explosion NEAR the border, not hitting the crowd. Is that what you're talking about?
There's for sure going to be a lot of collateral damage. Hamas uses their own people as human shields.
That's 100 percent on Hamas and on the Palestinian people who allow it.
The pass to egypt? That egypt had to close, because of israeli bombings? The pass israel explicitly told palestinian refugees to use to flee to egypt?
Hamas didnt use them as shields. Israel told them where to go to be safe, and then killed them for trusting their word.
Thats got fuckall to do with hamas. Quit making excuses for the inhuman monsters who populate the israeli government.
You're the one making excuses for inhuman monsters.
Right, those damned palestinian civilians. How dare they flee for their lives.
The fuck is wrong with you?
You're making excuses for Hamas. This is their war. They hide among their own women and children to use them as human shields.
Where in the statement "israel should not bomb civilian refugees who are escaping via the route israel told them to take in order to not be killed by israeli bombs" is hamas being excused?
You are making up non existant imagined enemies who, for some reason, want to leave the battlefield to go to egypt, instead of fight the war they started, in order to justify israeli genocidial war crimes.
Again. What the fuck is wrong with you?
The only war crimes I've seen evidence for are those of Hamas.
Lol then maybe get your head out of your ass. Israel has been committing war crimes for over a decade.
Newspapers globally have spent all day retracting claims of hamas attacks after 3rd party sources confirm the damage was caused by israel attacks. WSJ just retracted the beheaded baby claim, because they cant find a non israel source for it, and cant find any bodies. LAT just retracted the rape claims for the same reason.
Israel is trying to use hamas as an excuse to just start a genocide, and trying to stick them with the blame for their civilian attacks.
Yes, hamas has been killing civilians. But unfortunately they are not the only ones doing so.
Have they?
Or has the internal community just decided that collateral damage is a war crime when Israel does it?
Yeah, again, what the fuck is wrong with you?
Israel declared a refugee passage. Any bombing of refugee exit routes is a war crime. Period.
Israel bombed the passage they declared as safe for refugee travel so badly, egypt had to close it off.
They intentionally bombed the only civilian exit they offered for refugees. Thats not collateral damage. Thats a war crime.
Youre excited they are killing innocent children, arent you?
You're make a lot of claims without providing evidence.
The same could be said of you.
Oh, except I have actually provided a few sources in the thread. Huh, thats weird, are those facts upsetting for you?
Journalist who reported this as fact, later tweeted that they had only overheard it in a soldiers conversation.
No evidence that this happened.
Nice atrocity propaganda.
Plenty of independent reporting on this. It hasn't been confirmed, but it definitely hasn't been debunked either.
