JIF is a different file format, so the creator is an idiot for pronouncing GIF as jif.
That's fine to think that but it's stupid name is still it's name lol
No it's not, it's an acronym. And the majority of people pronounce it smartly as gif, not jif. The fact I have to type jif to clear up the crap pronunciation is just evidence as to why it is pronounced as gif.
It's not that deep and I think you're wrong so I guess we just disagree.
