I love upgrades, but I don't like to do them to good enough cards such as my 5700xt or ever time AMD adds a simple feature.
My 6650XT has pretty comparable performance to your 5700XT, and I almost got the 5700XT (glad I didn't). You should be able to play on an older GPU instead of just being SOL.
It's okay, it was the best value in 2019 and there was no 6k series. After that the GPU market inflated and 6k series was unapproachable. I don't fell scammed, it aged well. But the fault lies in the industry GPU market + videogame industry. I really tried to have a PC similar to a new gen console but I was to early and in hindsight waiting would of just made the card harder to get. Hardware Unboxed said I should of traded during the GPU crisis for a 6700xt for free in all that chaos but I was to scared, unfamiliar with the shmarket and lazy.
That's totally fair, and yeah, it's really dumb when games require certain features of new cards. New features should be something you can use if your card has them, and the game should gracefully fall back to not having that feature.
Then don't.
