Nintendo patents lots of things, so I wouldn't put too much importance behind this, personally.
You say that, and then you link concept art of wii u gamepad?
That's actually 2015 patent that surfaced ahead of the Nintendo Switch announcement. It described an all-touch-screen handheld console with two analog sticks and shoulder buttons as the only controls.
That's really cool tbh, I love crazy mockups like this
