In my experience, what could actually make it artisan:

  • -uncomfortable stools with no back and at a height that feels just a little too high but not quite right.
  • -menus accessed by qr codes with a smartphones
  • -serving dishes that are actually just pieces of wood (gives that rustic appeal)
  • -a big word cloud on the wall that contains words like "steel-cut", "locally sourced", and--why not--"Artisan"
  • -lighting that looks old, often using those nice incandescent filaments that give a warm glow--most likely string lights

Those are just a few ideas off the top of my head. I agree--they aren't artisan yet but if hipsters have taught me anything, it's that decorating in a certain way will get you a certain clientele and they will believe it's artisan.

You're confusing Artesian with Rustic.

Artesian means 'old piece of shit'
