Got a Mac Pro with a ssd reporting smart failure. macOS refuses to install. Anyone knows of a bootable usb disk I can use to scan and potentially repair the disk? Terminal in recovery mode doesn’t contain smartctl.

If the drive is failing SMART there's something wrong with it, it's likely not repairable, especially with software

Not worth resetting the smart status to make sure it comes back?

It's dead, Jim - cit.

Go to Apple service and have it replaced if you are under warranty. If you are not... You're essentially screwed.
