It kind of depends. I was mainly active on r/genzedong and (very occasionally) r/sino, so a notif usually meant either "a comrade replying" or "some dumb butthurt lib about to get dunked on -- BATTLE IS JOINED!"
A DM, on the other hand, was almost always some coward who was afraid for his karma and didn't want to engage publicly.
