With a final score of 125-99, it is clear that White Faced Scops in your choice for the first ever SuperbOwl Owl of the Year! WFS will in the near future be our new community icon, and Snowy, Screech, and Buffy will share the banner. We'll come up with some good ideas and see what looks best and get that taken care of.
All the owls have gotten a ton of support from you guys, which I loved seeing, and you've all joined in the fun and hopefully had a great time. This all went very well and I'm glad it really got all of you excited each day.
We're over 2100 members strong on Lemmy.World, more than double what it was back in July. It's great to be here enjoying this group with you. I hope we keep growing and keep having fun learning about owl stealthy feathered friends together. There are many more owls left to share with you, and many things left to learn and talk about.
Thank you all for your participation and being a great community of people!!!
Thank you for setting this up. This has been a lot of fun!
It's been a lot of work, but even more fun.
Looking forward to going back to some easier posts, but can't wait to do it again next year!
I'll pull some stats from the tourney and pick out some highlight reel stuff from all the posts of the year too as a year end rewind type thing yet as well.
Yah, you put in a ton of work on this; it's much appreciate!
I'm curious to know if there was a spike in subscriptions during the contest - do you have access to historical subscriber data?
I wish I did. I haven't found any good resource for checking stats like that. I should have just logged them myself.
From just glancing at it when I think of it though, we seem to gain 5-10 a day pretty consistently, which I like. I'd rather a few people trickle in from All, or new Reddit migrants than a big influx after a meme or something and then all the new people never check in again.
I want you guys to have this as something you look forward to every day and where you'll find something at least somewhat consistent. There's still a lot of other doom and gloom that gets posted elsewhere, so I like keeping this as the social media palate cleanser.
If we ever do get historical data, I'd love to see it though and see where the spikes are.
