the fediverse has some side effects with regards to post timestamping. i've noticed i get old posts in the 'new' feed fairly regularly as remote instances rebroadcast stuff that might have failed. post edits seem to reset some of this timestamping also.

but its all pretty specific to whatever server app you employ (lemmy/'bins)
