The only thing keeping the dream alive at this point is the diminishing belief that the dreamer will one day be the boss with the yacht. This dream is instilled in their youth, but the current coming-of-age generation does not see their parents navigating anywhere close to this path successfully. In 30some years, nobody but those born rich will believe in this dream.

I'm officially in my "late 30s" now and know people into their mid 40s. Everyone I know is still basically where we were 10-15 years ago, because retirement is increasingly a thing of the past. We can't move up into higher pay/higher tier jobs because our parents and in some cases grandparents are still keeping those positions locked down.
