UK Politics
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(
Just in time for it to be destroyed it seems.
Is this the Tory equivalent of thoughts and prayers?
Gaza alone is not Palestine.
Yup. You wanna expand on that?
The West Bank exists. Currently, there is a Palestinian executive under full control in the so-called A zones there. That could be considered as part of a internationally recognised Palestinian state, although very small in size.
Under Oslo, the B and C zones are also belonging to the Palestinians, but these are illegally contested by Israeli settlements and the fact that they are controlled by the Israeli military.
Yes, I am aware of the west bank.
My original point was about the likelihood of Palestine being destroyed shortly after being recognised by the UK government.
Do you share any of my concerns that Israel might be emboldened by achieving it's explicit and implicit aims in Gaza which results in increased pressure on the West Bank?
Given the threats to the integrity of that space which is relevant to a sovereign nation which you mention, I think it's reasonable to be concerned on that point.
