the awful.systems server cluster runs on an open infrastructure based on NixOS and Nix flakes, and though it desperately needs cleanup in some places, it's still a pretty good example of how to use a Nix flake to deploy NixOS in production. feel free to browse the repo and ask any questions about how it works, or about Nix in general!

also, if I get hit by a bus, this can be used to redeploy awful.systems elsewhere. an existing admin who isn't in the hospital or the grave can import a database backup and get back up and running!

and as always, contributions are welcome.

Strangely, it seems like none of the comments from /c/freeasm have federated to lemm.ee. Is this intentional to minimize the risk of drive-by toxicity, or is this some Free Jank, not from concentrate?

EDIT: I see that my comment has federated inward, so jank it is!

If you're the first subscriber from lemm.ee that's just how Lemmy works, it fetches old posts but not the comments.

Edit: never mind, jank it is. My comment's not coming through on lemm.ee

this might be an activitypub breakage on our end or theirs, or maybe just the queue getting stuck. if this doesn’t clear up on its own, I might send an email to a lemm.ee admin and see if they can give it a kick

Explanation for the jank: I tried to read /c/freeasm without subscribing to it, so it didn't federate. Classic PEBKAC.
