It's not even about performance; I just don't play anything that can justify a discreet GPU and I'm imagining the idle power draw is gonna be significantly better on a CPU with an integrated GPU than a CPU+GPU.

You said "discreet GPU", that would mean something like a GPU that is careful, guarded, and keeps your secrets.
I think you meant a "discrete GPU", which would mean a GPU that is distinct and separate from the rest of the system, so not built into the same silicon as the CPU or motherboard.
My GPU is very descreet! I store my diary on his VRAM and he never blabbers to anyone.
