I dropped my phone quite harshly last night, and this morning I noticed I've finally shattered the screen protector. I got this phone on September 5th, but I didn't even use it until like the 7th or 8th because I was too scared of breaking it. Also, it's a glass backed phone, so it slid off my nightstand because apparently it's on a very, very, slight slant.

I took my phone in its box to one of those case shops in the middle of Watergardens shopping centre and asked the lady what the best case she had was. I wanted something durable that comes up ABOVE the screen, not just sits flush, and doesn't pop off easily like those cheap shitty eBay cases. She brought out about a dozen before I found one that actually had a decent clearance above the screen and looked sturdy. She had to order it in, and she sent me a message when it was ready to come pick it up. I picked it up and couldn't figure out how to put it on. Apparently sliding it in doesn't work. I took it to the phone last and asked her how to put it on, and apparently my case actually has 3 different components: a plastic back, a plastic front frame, and a rubber grippy thing that goes all the way around it.

She also put the screen protector on for me, and managed to do it well, properly lines up, and with no bubbles. I think I might actually take it back to her so she can replace it. I know I could save 10 bucks by doing it myself, but she did it faster and better than I can, and it stayed attached to the screen longer than when I do it (I'm not sure whether that's a case of a higher quality screen protector/adhesive, or just a case of me not pressing firmly enough)

Why is this an essay. FFS what's wrong with me, why do I write this much about a fucking screen protector Jesus christ

At our hardware deployment centre here at work, they have a little machine for applying screen protectors, that at first glance looks a little bit similar to one of those old school credit card manual kerchunkyslidey things (me English gud).

Install the 'insert' for the model phone you're applying it to, drop the phone in, put the protector in the guides, kerchunk-kerchunk, perfectly aligned and applied screen protector every time.

It's seriously like cheat mode. No way you could ever do it that perfectly by hand every time.

Holy shit, that is genius! I've seen those ones you can by from AliExpress for like a buck before, but I've never tried it. I don't think it'd do a good job though, looks kinda flimsy

Yeah these things definitely aren't AliExpress specials, they've got a bit of heft to them.

I'm certain many mobile phone stores who do these screen protector installs have one out the back, they just take the phone to the machine and BAM, perfection.

because these are the little things that are important. Having an actual good interaction and getting good customer service and deciding that its ok to go back there and get it done professionally again - embed that shit in your brain. It's good shit and a lot better than the other stuff you have been through lately.

Hell I messaged three different people and this thread about my love of my flannelette hankies yesterday!

I cannot be bothered to even try to apply my own screen protectors. Straight to the professionals every time.

Justified! Plus then if it bubbles straight afterwards, they'll probably reapply a new one
