Running is a very good strategy. In non-stand your ground states if you have the opportunity to run you have a legal obligation to. It means you aren't in immediate danger. In a stand your ground state you have the option to run. But if the person shooting isn't visible then sneaking around with a gun trying to find them is how a good-guy with a gun ends up dead like John Hurley.

Part of being a responsible gun owner is knowing when to run.

john hurley took the mass shooter's gun and was killed by the cops, him sneaking around was the part that lead to him killing the shooter
