The report concluded there was no evidence that Tessier-Lavigne himself manipulated data in the papers reviewed, nor that he knew about manipulation at the time.

What kind of absolute horse shit is this? He is the PRINCIPAL AUTHOR on these papers. That means it's his data. He's not co-author, now a peer reviewer, not an advisor. It is absolutely insane that he wrote these papers and didn't validate or review the data hundreds of times before putting it in publication. This is some golden parachute shit.

Manipulation of western blot images... Tale as old as time.

The panel report is careful to say there's no evidence he was directly involved, but the issues affect multiple papers with different co-authors over many years, on which he's the common link, so... ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”...

Sounds like he was running a toxic lab culture where the only way to get recognized was to "win" at science by getting a result that looked groundbreaking. No surprise that fraud was happening and that he was preserving his plausible deniability.
