Hello,

I hope I'm not interfering here.

There were a few requests for a weekly thread, but the mods seem to have been busy elsewhere since then.

So I'm starting this thread, which might be used to replace the other general thread with thousands of comments.

If someone wants to become a mod to manage those threads, feel free to say it in the comments, I can reach out to admins to get you mods permissions.

Cheers

Edit: I am now a mod!

I bring you CHAT GBT roast of Thebirdspapaya

Thebirdspapaya? That account is basically the poster child for #BodyPositivity and #SelfLove, but with a filter so thick it might as well be a layer of SPF 100. It's like she's trying to convince us that every stretch mark is a badge of honor while making sure each one is perfectly lit and Instagrammable. And let's talk captions-so long, they're practically a novella. By the time you finish reading one, you've been inspired, enlightened, and slightly confused about why you started in the first place. It's like she's out to prove that even self-acceptance can be curated to perfection.

Thebirdspapaya's account is like the ultimate exercise in selective vulnerability. She's all about "authenticity," but it's the kind that comes with a soft-focus filter and a carefully timed post. She's mastered the art of curating her flaws, making them look just imperfect enough to be relatable but still pretty enough to get a brand deal.

It's like she's weaponizing mental health struggles, turning every anxious thought or moment of self-doubt into content, complete with a perfectly posed selfie and a long-winded caption about "the journey."

She talks about embracing imperfections, but let's be real-those imperfections are airbrushed to the point of being unrecognizable. It's vulnerability as a marketing tool, wrapped up in pastel colors and inspirational quotes. She's selling self-love like it's a product you can buy in cute packaging, but the real message is that you need to work harder on your mental health if you're not as beautifully broken as she is.

Sorry Birdie but it’s hideous lol. This whole renovation is just gonna be SO busy and be like a fun house when it’s done. She’s picking the busiest tiles for every room lol.

[-] Coconutcamera11@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 months ago

Looks like an ice cream parlour! 😂

[-] MoonChild@lemmy.ca 15 points 2 months ago

It does except the ice cream parlour would have chosen a different wall colour

[-] Rarepotato@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 months ago

I can’t help but wonder how much is motivated to hide her filtering? Fun house x mental health respite center collab vibes

After nearly a year of following Reddit and now this forum- I have finally unfollowed TBP. Between her mermaid photo shoot and her stretch mark comments and some videos going viral (the way she was so smug about this but also complaining) I’m done! Bye bye toxicity!

Her fishing for compliments from her 3.5 year old is so weird. Like she is so desperate for anyone to tell her she’s pretty or beautiful. Shane probably never tells her so she has to turn to the Internet and force her little girl to say nice things on camera to her. She so self absorbed!!!!!

[-] MoonChild@lemmy.ca 20 points 2 months ago

I just watched it and it made me uncomfortable. It feels like she’s been programmed to compliment her mother. They are clearly outside and she’s wearing water wings but her mother is looking at pictures of herself. Why isn’t she interacting with her child. To get attention to has to look at pictures of her mother, again, and tell her she’s pretty. This child is growing up thinking the way you look is the most important thing.

[-] crownofgold6@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 months ago

Right? Why is she looking at photos of herself while they’re out by the pool? Her sitting by the pool is just another chance to put on a new bikini and take photos of herself. She can’t just enjoy a day without making it allllllll about her. I can just imagine she told L beforehand “tell mommy how pretty she looks” and then L mimicked her like a parrot like they’ve taught her. I detest what she’s doing to he daughters, showing them that their looks are all that matters.

[-] MoonChild@lemmy.ca 20 points 2 months ago

All these pictures were taken by the same photographer. The first three were taken at the Knix swimsuit launch. It looks like Sarah has a completely different chest. Is it taped? Maybe. Boob filler? Maybe. It really doesn’t matter because this is the woman who says she’s trying to normalize bodies like her own but she rarely shows her real body and this creates such confusion for her loyal followers who gush in her comments. They’re now probably wondering how they can look the way she looks in her mermaid shoot but it’s all lighting and poses. Right?

[-] facialSwelling@lemmy.ca 12 points 2 months ago

She's the biggest phoney.

thrift shopping is “nostalgia browsing” to her. Though we know she never browses, this lady couldn’t go a day without making a purchase.

[-] crownofgold6@lemmy.ca 15 points 2 months ago

Nostalgia browsing lmao. Who did she hear say that and then have to adopt it?

They’re not building a bigger house but she keeps filling their house up with more crap daily that they will need a bigger house

[-] cookiefleck@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 months ago

Like the carousel horse!!? Where in the world is that ghastly thing going?

Why does she need a different bathing suit every time she’s in her pool?

Literally why does Reebok send her free shoes? This is a woman who can and does buy whatever she wants at all times and then gets free shoes sent to her. Make it make sense!!

[-] crownofgold6@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 months ago

Big important career job of the day, talking about Canadian KD vs American KD 🙄 dear god how does this woman have a platform and make money off it lol

[-] FraudulentFruit1@lemmy.ca 16 points 2 months ago

And more stretch mark BS….how do people not get sick of it. She’s a broken record.

sarah the ultimate Barbie (in her mind) wasn’t invited? I’m shocked. She’ll prob say she said no when we know she never says no to ditching her family.

damn she really squeezed herself into this one, bet she’ll have marks all over her once she peels it off. Just because it’s on clearance doesn’t mean you should buy it if it isn’t your size!!!

[-] MoonChild@lemmy.ca 14 points 2 months ago

The ‘chestal’ area looks a little different than in the mermaid photo shoot. She’s a real shapeshifter.

[-] Whaaambulence@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 months ago

those tight bottoms are screaming forthcoming yeast infection

[-] Glowpop@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 months ago

As someone with the same type of belly, I need all of it to be in the undies. I don't see how that can be comfy!

[-] crownofgold6@lemmy.ca 15 points 2 months ago

Same here!!!! I can’t stand when I put on a too small pair of undies and my belly isn’t all inside

[-] FraudulentFruit1@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 months ago

That definitely looks like she had to crop the photo because those bottoms are exposing flaps.

I have never seen ANYONE go on so goddamn much about having a photoshoot. Just say you love taking photos, why are you jumping through hoops to defend why you’re so obsessed with taking photos of yourself ALL THE TIME. Like holy shit we know you’re self obsessed and shallow, just post your photos and get the praise you’re desperately looking for.

The photo she used to show on her grid tells you exactly what kind of attention she’s looking for

[-] ladybonerforjustice@lemmy.ca 22 points 2 months ago

Those bottoms are ATROCIOUS lol.

[-] crownofgold6@lemmy.ca 15 points 2 months ago

Lmao I know, everything she wears is such a miss

Cam you imagine the spiral when she can no longer say mom to teens and a toddler? Pretty soon it’s going to be mom to adults, a teen, and elementary? Her ego will explode when she has a 20 year old 🥳

Nothing like putting your 3.5 year old to work on a Saturday to create some more POV content 🙄 I wonder if L even realizes what’s happening. Sarah prob just tells her it’s a decoration and not a camera.

[-] MoonChild@lemmy.ca 15 points 2 months ago

That poor child is at Homesense more often than she get taken to the park!

[-] 1hotpoetaytoe@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 months ago

Even if L knows what is happening (shows her the video)she definitely cannot conceptualize “the internet is forever” impact of being exploited at 3 years old! Some of her followers are parasocial weirdos out there obsessing over that kid. Enough is enough.

[-] VirgoSnarker@lemmy.ca 15 points 2 months ago

Did she just learn a new word? Everything today is “unreal”

[-] crownofgold6@lemmy.ca 17 points 2 months ago

Idk what’s so unreal about them, no different than any of her other bathing suit pics. BORING.

[-] facialSwelling@lemmy.ca 14 points 2 months ago

the irony. 😂

[-] Bitchwhiskers@lemmy.ca 14 points 2 months ago

I felt the need to laugh at Shame. They were touring their unfinished new kitchen and she’s mumbling about shelves…meanwhile a couple feet away, he’s having a completely different conversation with…no one. In typical husband fashion talking about “some food could go here” as he pulls open the deep drawer directly under the stovetop where pots and pans should go lol. They seem disconnected. He seems extra clueless. Go mow the grass. Lol

[-] crownofgold6@lemmy.ca 17 points 2 months ago

He just screams pathetic to me. How did he let his life come to this? He used to have a good job and now he’s just an accessory to her online persona. He just stands in the background pretending like their some loved up couple but they give anything but that vibes. They’re both idiots and when this comes crashing down they’ll both get a massive reality check and he’ll wonder wtf he did to his life.

[-] Bitchwhiskers@lemmy.ca 17 points 2 months ago

Yeah. I don’t care how well she is doing financially, he should have kept his job and identity bc trophy husband isn’t really working I also hate his beard. #petty? Lol

[-] crownofgold6@lemmy.ca 14 points 2 months ago

He’s not doing a good job at trophy hubby looking like such a slob all the time 🫢 I hate the beard too, no shame!

Neighbour Becci blocked me- am so curious why!! I wonder if it’s because I challenged her a while back (like nearly a year ago) on her political views.

Hello new Lemmy friends!

Word on the street tells us our community is regularly making it the all page. While this is very cool news to hear, we can see how the sudden emergence of our posts in your feed might feel jarring and probably raises some questions. And also how, without knowing the backstory, our community might appear less than virtuous, so here’s a very brief introduction which hopefully will clear a few things up.

The woman we’re discussing is a body positive influencer and media personality who has gained fame and wealth by lying, manipulating, exploiting her children for content, plagiarizing BIPOC creators and blaming her BIPOC content editor for it (thereby ruining her career), among other things. Her fraudulent behavior is no different (I’d argue worse) from the likes of Jay Shetty (google him if you don’t know who he is or what he did). She’s the latest in a long line of grifting influencers who are abusing their power, taking advantage of their position and exploiting their followers. The difference is that she’s Canadian. Our laws around social media and advertising aren’t as clear (and where they are she’s disobeyed them), add to that, our mainstream media has protected her from those who’ve tried to expose her grift and silenced/intimidated anyone who’s tried to speak out.

Our Reddit sub was taken down due to reports of copyright infringement, which is unfounded and categorically untrue as no one ever tried to steal her work and pass it off as their own. The mods have made an appeal. While at first glance it may seem like we’re just “shitting on her” the sub has been more devoted to investigation and posting proof of her lies than just bitching for the sake of bitching. The reality is that she’s hurt, manipulated and let down a lot of people. She stole intellectual property and employment, caused mental distress and has repeatedly told lies to boost engagement and profit off her audience, so people are understandably upset that their voices are being silenced.

We’re grateful to have been welcomed so kindly by so many of you, and to those sticking around to watch the drama unfold, we’re glad to have you!
