I'm glad people are speaking up against Starmer turning Labour into the New Conservatives.

Lol, Rosie usually flanking from the right. A transphobe and not a nice person. Love it when they trash take themselves out. One of the few Labour MPs worse than Kier

Thanks for providing some context about her. I don't know her or her history. Seems @cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone was standing on the right side of yet another issue.

It's kinda funny I had all these people telling me it will be better under kier

I know they can't turn ut around this quickly but based on what I have seen from him hrs not even in the same room as the steering wheel.

Oversteer Kier. I suspect he's more right wing than Blair, but we'll have to see. Definitely more of am autocrat.

In her resignation letter, published by the Sunday Times, external, the Canterbury MP lambasts the prime minister for accepting gifts worth tens of thousands of pounds while scrapping the winter fuel payment and keeping the two-child benefit cap.

Very funny thing for someone who accepted a £10k private donation and didn't vote on the winter fuel payment to say. Shouldn't expect moral consistency from a transphobe.

I don’t think you’ve read this. They are donations directly to a campaign fund. Are you drawing equivalence to accepting clothes for a spouse or a holiday in New York ?

For the winter fuel payment, abstention or having the whip removed, as is nearly always case in British parliamentary politics .

I did read it, I just think it demonstrates the same problem as Stramer's freebies, rich people pushing money around in policies to buy influence.

she just have wanted to spend more time at home denying the holocaust

Do you have any source for this? From what I read of her, it seems she's criticized Labour for what she perceives as antisemitism. (Edit: She's also very transphobic though, apparently; that sucks, but it still has nothing to do with Holocaust denial. Edit 2: okay yes it does. What the fuck.)

[-] cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 1 month ago

it was pretty much linked with transphobia when she was agreeing with someone who said trans people weren't targetted in the holocaust

Ah, yup, that'll do it.

What the fuck, Rosie.

Sayonara, transphobe

Hate her, but can't disagree that the two-child benefit cap is fucking awful for families that need the help. Those kids don't deserve to be punished for being born. Something, something, broken clock.

Note: I do not have or want children, I just have empathy for them because I grew up in poverty myself. I still think she's vile.

General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
