I let my membership expire after they unilaterally cancelled my paper QST. I'm still mad about that, and the steady trickle of other news doesn't make me want to go back.
I have to say, the information contained in this article raises significant concerns about the operation of the ARRL.
I feel like every year since I’ve been licensed and an ARRL member, I’ve become less enthused by the ARRL. To the point where this may be my last year as a member.
Also a thought: I use a few ARRL links in our side bar I wouldn’t mind changing to non-ARRL links. Open to suggestions.
Hiya, not sure how to see the side bar in a web browser, which reminds me, my account seems to be randomly logged out.
my account seems to be randomly logged out.
Glad it's not just me, lol. I've been wondering for weeks why I seem to almost always get logged out if I close the tab in Firefox. Not a big issue; I just log back in. But have been curious as to why that happens.
The general sidebar on the right has some links for how to get into amateur radio.
Not a lemmy dev so I’m not the go to on issues. I had that issue on Firefox though.
That's interesting. I don't see that on Safari on my Mac.
Edit: fat fingers and autocorrect.
What do you see and what link are you using? On my Mac in safari at lemmy.radio I can see it. Not in a community
Ah, I was in the Amateur Radio community when I looked. When I get back to my desk I'll check.
Yea in a community you only see the community info. The “official” sidebar is only on the main feed
Yup, I can see this on Safari when outside a community.
I note that none of the three ARRL links actually load for me.
Could be that ARRL was down then. All links work for me.
I was a member of the ARRL for a year just to get QST, and found that so much of the American outlook on amateur radio is so different to that here in Europe with allthe stuff about patriotism (what? no.) and prepping and massive amplifiers and driving your pickup truck to the park (here in Austria we do SOTA, not POTA :) ) that it held no real interest for me. The tech reviews were great, though.
